KETEL ONE NATIONAL FINAL

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert represented SABA in the final of the Ketel One Cocktail Competition held in Scheidam, at the Ketel One Distillery . The competition had 11 entrants from Dublin,Galway, Cork and Kilkenny all of who had earned the right to be there qualifying in their regional heat.The National Final was won by Colin Hutton from Diep le Shaker.

WOODFORD RESERVE BARTENDER OF THE YEAR WORLD FINAL 2007

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert has been chosen to represent Ireland along with 3 other bartenders in the Woodford Reserve Bartender of the Year World Final in Kentuckey next week. The Irish team is as follows:-

KAREN MILLEN'S 1ST BIRTHDAY BASH

Mixo-logic provided cocktails at the Karen Millen Shop on Grafton Street on Thursday night,as they celebrated their 1st birthday with a 20% off sale. Coole Swan was the star again with Coole n Dreamy and the liquer itself both being well recieved.

CHICA 6TH BIRTHDAY BASH

Mixo-logic provided cocktails at Chica's 6th birthday party held in the Westbury Shopping Mall on Wednesday night(7/11). They made Coole n Dreamy Cocktails to the sounds of DJ Dandelion.

7up Xtra bite

Mixo-logic has teamed up with 7up to launch their new addition to the family, 7up Free Xtra Bite, with an added kick of lime zest. The launch will take place in bars all around the country for the next couple of weeks.

SABA 1st Birthday

SABA celebrated being open one year on Tuesday 9th Oct. Cocktails were being made on the night by the award winning bar team. Hundreds of guests turnded up to help Paul Cadden and his team celebrate this milestone.

Seoige and O Shea Show on RTE1

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert appeared on the Seoige and O Shea show last Monday as part of the Do I Dare? segment. Paul ws given the challenge of training a complete novice in the art of mixology.

42Below World Cup '07

Congrats to team Ireland for finishing 4th in probably the world's toughest cocktail competition, The 42Below Cocktail World Cup. It was an excellent team display by Alan,Ryan and Ed.

DeKuyper Cup


Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert placed 3rd out of 16 bartenders from around the world in the DeKuyper Cup, held in Scheidam, Holland.

The competition took place in DeKuyper's new Visitor Centre which was offically opened by the Mayoress of Schiedam during this event.

B.A.I. Bartender of the year 2007

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert qualified for the final of the Ketel One National Cocktail Competition to be held in the Ketel One Distillery in Schiedham, Rotterdam in November. The qualifier was held in the Morgan Hotel and was run in association with Drink magazine and The Mixologist Club. Rafael Agapito of Porterhouse Central and Colin Hutton of Diep le Shaker also qualified from the Dublin heat. They will be joined by bartenders from other qualifiers held throughout the country.

Idol Vodka Cocktail Competition


Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert is taking part in a new style of competition for Idol Vodka. Idol, a French Vodka made from grapes, has asked a number of bartenders around Dublin to create a recipe with Idol and then sell it for a month. Check out Paul's recipe in SABA.

SAGATIBA MASTERCLASS



Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert was recently invited to a master class with John Gakuru, Global Brand Ambassador for Sagitiba Cachaca in the Morgan Hotel along with several of Dublin's top bartenders. John, former GM of LAB in SOHO, is one of London's best bartenders and now spends his time travelling the world explaining what Sagatiba cachaca is and how to use it in cocktails.

MIXO-LOGIC ON RADIO

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert was interveiwed om Radio 1 last Friday as part of a segment about cocktails. Paul explained how to make great cocktails using such brands as Bacardi, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Southern Comfort and Martini Rosso. Paul demonstrated how to make a Classic Vodka Martini and also a Martini Rosso and apple juice which was the offical drink of the premiere of Ocean's 13 ealrier in June. Hosting the programme in Pat Kenny's absence was Tom McGurk. Other guests included Alan Crowley of Edward Dillons & Co.

42Below Cocktail World Cup '07 Irish Team

For the first time ever there will be a full Irish team at the Cocktail World Cup in Queenstown, New Zealand in Sept '07. The team will consist of the following bartenders:-

Alan Kavanagh, Balzac's Restaurant, Dawson St, Dublin
Ryan Gavin, Harvey Nichol's 1st Floor
Edmund O' Connor, Harvey Nichols 1st Floor

The guys now have to make a cosmo while bungy jumping, Heli Shaking(which the Canadian/Irish team won last year!!!) and Shotover Jetboating while making a cocktail. All great fun!!!

Then after all that they have to work together to create the best tasting cocktail in the world. Sounds easy eh? Just another day in the office!

SABA bartender in 42Below Final

Michael Ryan from SABA is through to the the qualifying heat for the 42Below World Cup taking place at Taste of London next Friday 22nd June. 3 bartenders will be selected to represented Ireland at the World Final in September. This is the first year a full Irish team will be sent to New Zealand. Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert represented Ireland last year as part of an Irish/Canadian team. Best of luck to Michael and the other bartenders in the Final. We will announce the Irish team once we get the news.

TASTE OF DUBLIN 2008

Mixo-logic took part in the Taste of Dublin Food Fair in Iveagh Gardens Dublin from last Thurs 14th to Sunday 17th of June. The finest restaurats in Dublin and some of the best chefs were showing their skills while drink stands were available for tastings. Alan Kavanagh, Irelands No1 Flairtender, gave flair tending demonstrations in the Mickey Finns Tent. It was a great event with an estimated 27,000 people visiting over the four days. Looking forward to next years Taste of Dublin already!!!!

COCKTAIL RECIPES

Lemongrass and honey martini
35mls Lemongrass infused vodka
35mls 42Below Manuka Honey Vodka
17.5mls Lemon juice
17.5mls Gomme syrup

Method:- Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. shake well and double strain into a chilled martini glass. grnish with slices of lemongrass.

COCKTAIL RECIPES

ORIENT EXPRESS(Winner of the Aperitif category, Finlandia National Cup Nov '06)
35mls Finlandia Pure
50mls Choy Apio Plum wine

Method:-Pour both ingredients into a boston glas with ice. Stir frequently and then strain inot a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a japanese plum.

Pulp Fiction
50mls Jameson
17.5mls Watermelon liquer(optional)
10mls gomme syrup
6 chunks of fresh watermelon

Method:- Muddle the watermelon and gomme together in a boston glass. Add the Jameson, and liquer. Fill boston glass with ice. Shake hard and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a watermelon slice.

COOLE N DREAMY

Here is the recipe for the cocktail created by Mixo-logic for Coole Swan Liquer.

COOLE N DREAMY
35mls Coole Swan Liquer
25mls Vanilla Vodka
15mls Frangelico(hazelnut liquer)

Method:- Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Sprinkle some chopped chocolate on top and garnish with a strawberry. TIP:- Dip the strawberry in the drink. Delicious!!!!!

To mark the arrival of Coole Swan, world renowned film director Mike Figgis has created a series of short films called Coole Stories. These films are to celebrate the Irish art of storytelling and are real people telling real stories The first film was shown at the launch and is available to watch on myspace.com where viewers can also leave their own 'Coole Story'.

COOLE SWAN LAUNCH



Mixo-logic worked with Scion Spirits Company on the launch of their new brand, Coole Swan Liquer which is a premium cream liquer. We advised on the 'Perfect serve' and Paul Lambert also created a signature cocktail for the launch party held in The National Art Gallery on Tues 7th March.(Recipe to follow)

When asked what he thought of the brand Paul had this to say, " It is an elegant drink, pure unadulterated bliss. It's almost a shame to make cocktails with it!!!! But it is very versatile and works well in numerous cocktails. With the finest ingredients used to produce it, I hope it will soon be a must have in every bar."

BEST MATEUSALEM RUM COCKTAIL

MIXO-LOGIC's Paul Lambert competed in the Best Bartender category at the Theme Magazine Bar Awards Irish Final in Belfast yesterday. Each competitor had to produce 3 original drinks using Ketel One Vodka,Mateusalem Rum and Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Two bartenders go forward to The London Bar Show for the UK Final in June.

While Paul didnt make it into the top two, he was awarded the award for Best Mateusalem Cocktail.

Recipe is as follows:-

35mls Mateusalem Gran reserva
17.5mls Frangelico
17.5mls Fresh lime juice
10mls Sugar syrup
2 betel Leaves(Vietnamese leaf with a slight nutty taste,normally used in Vietnamese cooking)

Method:- Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Tear up 2 betel leaves and add to shaker. Shake well and pour contents of shaker into an old fashioned glass allowing the flavours to continue to develop. Garnish with a betel leaf pierced with 2 straws.

SABA WINS BAR AWARD

SABA Restaurant won Best Bar Team at the Theme Magazine Bar Awards, Irish Final, 2007 in Belfast yesterday. Representing SABA on the day was Bar Manager Paul Lambert. " I am delighted, especially for the guys behind the bar. They have put in a lot of hard work since we opened last September." SABA now heads to the bar show BAR '07 in London in June for the UK Final.

GUINESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT


Finlandia Vodka tried to set the world record for the largest man made snow picture. Gathering all the competitors from the Finlandia International Cup,media,judges and staff together, we set out to draw the Finlandia logo in snow. It was great fun in extreme conditions. I learnt that you cant walk backwards in snow shoes!!! The hard way!! Anyway we should find out in a couple of weeks if our attempt was successful. Will keep you posted.

Valentines Day Cocktail


Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert was commisioned by Russian Vodka Stolichnya to create a special cocktail for Valentines Day this year, and here it is:-

THATS AMORE
35mls Stoli Strawberry(if available) or Strawberry infused Stoli
35mls Strawberry puree
17.5mls Creme de Fraise
Champagne
Cracked black pepper

Method:- Wipe the rim of a martini glass with a lime wedge and rim the glass with cracked black pepper. Add some ice to the glass to chill.Pour the Stoli,fraise and puree into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Discard the ice from the glass and strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass. This should come no furhter than half way up the glass. Then top with champagne. Garnish with a strawberry.

RADIO AND TV SHOWS

Over the last week Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert has been interviewed on radio and Tv in the run up to the Finlandia Cup World Final where Paul will represent Ireland next Tuesday(30th Jan) against 22 bartenders from around the globe.

He was interveiwed on 98fm, Newstalk 106 and on Ireland AM where he made his cocktails for the world final. Results will be posted next week.
