B.A.I. Bartender of the year 2007

Paul Lambert of SABA on Clarendon Street has been nominated for Bartender of the Year 2007 by the Bartenders Association of Ireland. results will be announced at the Annual bartenders ball on Oct 15th. other nominees are:-

KETEL ONE NATIONAL COCKTAIL COMPETITION

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert qualified for the final of the Ketel One National Cocktail Competition to be held in the Ketel One Distillery in Schiedham, Rotterdam in November. The qualifier was held in the Morgan Hotel and was run in association with Drink magazine and The Mixologist Club. Rafael Agapito of Porterhouse Central and Colin Hutton of Diep le Shaker also qualified from the Dublin heat. They will be joined by bartenders from other qualifiers held throughout the country.

Idol Vodka Cocktail Competition


Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert is taking part in a new style of competition for Idol Vodka. Idol, a French Vodka made from grapes, has asked a number of bartenders around Dublin to create a recipe with Idol and then sell it for a month. Check out Paul's recipe in SABA.

IRISH FLAIRTENDER IN TAIWAN


Norbert Shok will represent Ireland at the IBA World Cocktail Championships. 'Shoki' won the qualifier held in Sam Sara last Monday. SAGATIBA MASTERCLASS



Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert was recently invited to a master class with John Gakuru, Global Brand Ambassador for Sagitiba Cachaca in the Morgan Hotel along with several of Dublin's top bartenders. John, former GM of LAB in SOHO, is one of London's best bartenders and now spends his time travelling the world explaining what Sagatiba cachaca is and how to use it in cocktails.

NEW HOTEL OPENING

MIXO-LOGIC ON RADIO

Mixo-logic's Paul Lambert was interveiwed om Radio 1 last Friday as part of a segment about cocktails. Paul explained how to make great cocktails using such brands as Bacardi, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Southern Comfort and Martini Rosso. Paul demonstrated how to make a Classic Vodka Martini and also a Martini Rosso and apple juice which was the offical drink of the premiere of Ocean's 13 ealrier in June. Hosting the programme in Pat Kenny's absence was Tom McGurk. Other guests included Alan Crowley of Edward Dillons & Co.

42Below Cocktail World Cup '07 Irish Team

For the first time ever there will be a full Irish team at the Cocktail World Cup in Queenstown, New Zealand in Sept '07. The team will consist of the following bartenders:-

Alan Kavanagh, Balzac's Restaurant, Dawson St, Dublin
Ryan Gavin, Harvey Nichol's 1st Floor
Edmund O' Connor, Harvey Nichols 1st Floor

The guys now have to make a cosmo while bungy jumping, Heli Shaking(which the Canadian/Irish team won last year!!!) and Shotover Jetboating while making a cocktail. All great fun!!!

Then after all that they have to work together to create the best tasting cocktail in the world. Sounds easy eh? Just another day in the office!
